Get involved.

When you give the gift of your time to My Sister's Place, you are doing more than a good deed. You are changing lives. We rely on the support of our friends and community to help us help others.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. As the small ministry with a big heart, we rely on our network of volunteers to help us help others.

We have many volunteer opportunities available to serve our ministry and residents.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please fill out the volunteer form or email lthomson@my-sisters-place.org for more information.

  • Meals: Prepare a meal off-site and deliver it to the shelter. Generally, a meal needs to serve 12-15 individuals. Dinner is typically delivered between 4:30-5:30p.m. the day the meal is to be served, however accommodations can be made for advance delivery.

  • Committees: Join and serve on a My Sister’s Place committee. Committees typically require a monthly meeting commitment. Available committees include: fundraising, community outreach and development.

  • Special skills: We are always looking for volunteers who would like to donate their time in a special skill including general home maintenance (handyman), plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, personal finance, law, human resources, real estate, etc. These volunteers can serve in an ad-hoc manner or be considered for our board of directors.

  • My Sister’s Resale Boutique: Help in our boutique and donation center by sorting donations and staging merchandise.

Send some love or pray for our residents.

When our shelter doors first opened in 2000, our founder had two goals: provide a haven for a fresh start for homeless women and children and shower all who entered with God’s love.

One of the most meaningful ways to support our ministry is to pray for our residents. If you feel inclined, use the form to share your prayers or some words of encouragement with our residents (our shelter manager will print and share with the residents on our prayer wall).
