About Us

When the doors to the My Sister’s Place shelter first opened in 2000, our founder Marty Owens had two goals: provide a haven for a fresh start for homeless women and children and shower all who entered with God’s love. Our program may have grown, but our focus hasn’t changed.

My Sister’s Place provides a nurturing home, transportation assistance, nutritious meals and other basic necessities to the single women and mothers with children whom we serve. While they are with us, we provide: life skills workshops, case management, counseling and tools to help them to be in a better position when they leave than they were in when they arrived.

We rely on the support of our friends and community to help us help others. We are a nonprofit shelter (EIN 16-1619238).
